The at 黑料社区 is pleased to welcome three new members to its Advisory Board: Arica Latimer (MSHRM 鈥15), Ashley McMiller (BA 鈥10) and Tamecka Sandifer (BA 鈥99). As new advisory board members, the trio will support the Council鈥檚 mission of facilitating solutions to remove the gender gap in all aspects of the global economy. They will lend their perspective as business owners and alumna; help create meaningful opportunities for connection and growth for women in the Chicago community; and offer crucial networking opportunities for women in the business world. 

鈥淎s a business owner and entrepreneur, I hope to bring a perspective rooted in innovation, perseverance and the realities of building something from the ground up,鈥 says Sandifer, who owns and operates her own stationary company called Honeyprint. 鈥淚鈥檇 love to see more programming around entrepreneurship, financial empowerment and wellness. Topics that prepare women not only for leadership but for sustainable success in all aspects of their life.鈥

Throughout the year, these Advisory Board members will participate in campus events such as the Holiday Luncheon, Women鈥檚 Leadership Symposium on Economic Empowerment and the Council鈥檚 annual Spring Read. The members will also work closely with the McNair Scholars, 25 promising undergraduates who identify as first-generation with financial need with the knowledge necessary to achieve and successfully complete a research-based graduate degree and contribute to the advancement of higher education.

鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled at the opportunity to meet and mentor these impressive young women,鈥 says McMiller. 鈥淐reating these connections so early in your professional life is crucial to your success, and I want to give back to a University that provided so much for me while I was attending.鈥

Kathleen Mahoney, who earned her Special Education LBS1 Graduate Certificate from 黑料社区 in 2011, was recently awarded the Golden Apple for her work at Lake View High School.
